How is Jen's knowledge and attitude about the government different from Luke's? Whose view do you think is more accurate? Explain.
Jen's knowledge and attitude seem more accurate then Luke's. I think that is because Jen has access to more things to really get a better perspective. She knows more because she has access to more books, and the internet. Where as Luke doesn't, only what Jen gives or shows him, despite the things his family tells him. However how do we know who is right and who is wrong about the government, when we don't know ourselves?
I think that Jen's knowledge, and attitude is more accurate because she, and her family know that the government is lying on how they will know if you have a third. She has been outside of her house, she has been near windows, and she has been near a computer, and still no one has caught her. Luke on the other hand is told to do the opposite of what Jen does.
Jen clearly knows more about the situation than Luke. She gave him a couple books to read so he would share the same knowledge she ALREADY has. Jen knows the government better than Luke. Luke's perspective: The government is almighty and capable of anything. Jen's perspective: The government is lying about everything and do not do what they claim.
This is very true with each of their perspectives, but why does she know more than Luke? Her father is apart of the government but why did she give him the books? How did she know that Luke wouldn't believe her?
Jens attitude against the government is different than Lukes because her father works for the government so Jen was raised to belive that if anything goes wrong her father can get away with it. Just like in Chinas one-child policy there are plenty of exceptions that aren't fair. Jens knowledge is clearly more accurate, Lukes parents just want to keep things away from Luke in fear of getting caught by the population police because they can't pay the price unlike Jens parents.
I can see for your perspective on how Luke's parents want to keep information away from Luke, but why? Luke already knew that if he went outside he would probably be caught, but why still keep the information form Luke if he knows he has the chance of being caught?
Its not only the fact that his parents don't want him to get caught that they keep things from him, but maybe the fact that they don''t want him to know what he is missing. Remember when Lukes mother told him that chips are not allowed but Jen could get them anytime.
True, Serena, but thinking that her family can get away with a lot of things by bribing people makes her over confident and sure of herself. Could that be a disadvantage?
Jen doesn't like the government and thinks that it's dumb, but Luke is scared of the government and doesn't want anything to do with it. I think I like the way Luke thinks about the government because he is a third child and should be scared and he is unlike Jen who is starting a rally and going to the presidents house.
I agree with you Jarita, I think that Jen knows way more than Luke about the situation with the government because Jen lent Luke some of HER books to Luke about the population getting high and about the law. It was Jen's books, and I think that Jen's knowledge and attitude about the government is different of what Luke thinks about the government because Jen thinks of the government like he was a dumb person of making the law, and Luke thinks of the government like a very scary man. That is why Jen doesn't see the government as a caring and safe person, she sees him like a dumb and uncaring person.
Jen has a different attitude from Luke against the government only because Jen was raised knowing what they government is saying because her father is apart of the section that made the law against a third child. Jen sees the government as greedy people, Luke sees them as people who would do anything to get rid of Shadow children.
I think that I would be more like Jen about wanting to go to the rally and everything but, when I am going to the rally I would be scared like Luke and I would be more careful like Luke.

She told him that since her family has so much money, that if they do find out, Jen's mom and number of dad's could just bribe their way out of trouble. Luke, on the other hand, does not have any money at all. So if the population police finds out about them, Luke's family could be in some serious trouble!
